Creative Communications Provider Retains Major Reprographics Contract

Creative communications provider XIC has retained a major contract for the provision of print and reprographics services for oilfield services company Petrofac.  The contract extension represents the fourth consecutive year that Aberdeen-based XIC has worked with Petrofac to fufil the company’s reprographics requirements.

 The retention of its contract with Petrofac will aid XIC’s continued growth.  Established in 1987, the firm services the creative, print and digital needs of a wide range of north-east businesses. It has steadily grown its turnover over the past five years and is seeking to achieve a record turnover target of £2.5million in the year to end March 2015.

 A major contributor to this growth has been XIC’s ability to anticipate and service the increasing demand from the energy industry for specialist operational materials, which are often required on a same day basis.  XIC’s renewed contract with Petrofac is representative of these capabilities, involving the supply of engineering work packs and vessel operation documentation within tight timeframes.  As part of the contract, XIC will also continue to fulfil Petrofac’s requirements for general document scanning and day-to-day printing.

 “The energy industry is deadline driven and we have invested in people, technology and facilities to help our clients to meet their deadlines and function efficiently,” says Murray Alexander, director, XIC.  “We work with clients to understand their needs and are able to provide bespoke mobilisation documentation. We also understand the rigours of the offshore operating environment and can output information onto specialist durable materials accordingly.”

Operating from purpose-built production facilities on the south side of the city, XIC employs 26 people.  The company offers communication solutions in six core service areas: marketing, creative, print, reprographics, safety material and tender enhancement.

To work with us, you will need the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, and preferably have experience in a sales/customer service based role.  Computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office are also essential.

 

 

 Key duties are:

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Answer inbound business calls, transferring or dealing with as required.
  • Respond to inbound emailed requirements.
  • Create work tickets using the Company’s Management System.

  • Issue initial job proofs and develop through to approval with Client.

SALES

ESTIMATING

  • Source suitable products/solutions from new or existing suppliers; purchase/order specific goods.
  • Generate quotations using the Company’s Management System, issuing quotations directly to Clients or on behalf of the external sales team.
  • Identify potential issues with job specifications and identify processes/solutions to mitigate these.

TECHNICAL

  • Keep abreast of the latest technological developments within the company, enabling you to pass any benefits onto the customer.
  • Develop an understanding of trends throughout the industry, and how these impact on the company’s business.

XIC Clinches International Marketing Award

naplCreative communications provider XIC has won a National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) Marketing Plus™ Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in marketing.

 

 

 

The Aberdeen-based firm secured a silver award for the rebranding/repositioning of its own website and associated on and offline marketing materials.

Eighteen graphic communications companies competing across 11 categories were honoured at the 2013 awards dinner, which took place on Saturday, 7 September in Chicago.  Winners were selected on the basis of points gained via an objective scoring system that takes into account both the individual end product or campaign and its success in meeting stated goals.  XIC was the only UK company to win an award at this year’s event.

Over the past year, XIC has completely redeveloped its corporate website to reflect the company’s six core service areas of marketing, creative design, print, reprographics, safety material and tender enhancement.  The site re-launch was supported by the development of a range of mini brochures covering each service area, along with a launch event and printed and electronic mailshots. Evaluation of the new website is ongoing.

“Receiving a silver award at this level is a real accolade for XIC – and a well-deserved acknowledgement of the combined efforts of our creative, production, web integration and marketing teams,” says Murray Alexander, director, XIC.  “We have all worked very hard on XIC’s rebranding project over the last 12 months, so it is gratifying to have achieved recognition in this way.”

XIC’s very own Jason Moir and Calum Sinclair will join Aberdeen based BNI Alpha members; Aileen Scott, Bob Gentle, John Willis, Hitesh Mitchell-Mehta and Peter Major; in a tandem skydive at Errol Airfield in aid of Befriend A Child. Pairing up with professionals, the BNI team will take a leap of faith from 10,000 ft. to raise funds for the organisation.

Local charity Befriend A Child recruits caring adults to befriend and support individual children on a 1:1 basis. In doing so these volunteers help to promote the children’s welfare and advance their education. Priding themselves on being one of the oldest befriending schemes for children in Scotland; and the only organisation providing one-to-one  long-term child-centred support in and around Aberdeen; Befriend A Child play a vital within the local community.

“Since Building a relationship with Befriend a Child through BNI I have seen and heard of all the wonderful work they do in the local area and wanted to get involved”, said Calum Sinclair, Sales Support Manager, XIC. “Providing a safe and stable relationship, Befriend a Child offer underprivileged children daily experiences that we take for granted.”

Specialist Services Swell Turnover At Creative Communications Provider

pandjAberdeen-based creative communications provider XIC has marked its 26th year in business as its strongest yet, citing a growth in contracts for specialist print and reprographic services from the energy sector as a contributory factor in its success.

 

The company has steadily increased its turnover over the past five years and expects to exceed its turnover target of £2.5 million for the financial year ended March 2014.  Much of the recent growth can be attributed to XIC’s ability to service oil and gas companies with bespoke operational and safety materials at short notice. The company has also increased its staffing levels, with the recent recruitment of three new sales and marketing team members bringing its numbers to 26.

“Investment in both our people and our production facilities has allowed us to fulfil clients’ increasingly sophisticated demands,” said Murray Alexander, director, XIC. “The experience of our production team, some of whom have been with us since the birth of the company, coupled with XIC’s versatile range of print equipment means that we have a good understanding of the sector, as well as the production knowledge and facilities to address its at times complex requirements.

“Over the past twelve months we have seen an increased demand for some of our more specialist services, such as the provision of safety literature and offshore operations work packs. This type of printed material needs to be produced with due attention to an industrial environment. It is usually tailored to the company’s – or at times the individual recipient’s – unique requirements”

XIC prides itself on building lasting relationships with its clients in the energy sector and has grown its services to meet their increasingly sophisticated needs. In the last trading quarter of 2012, XIC retained a major contract for print and reprographics services with oilfield services company Petrofac for the third consecutive year. Halliburton, a global provider of solutions for the oil and gas industry, committed to a two-year extension of its print and reprographics contract with XIC, strengthening a relationship that dates back to 2004.

XIC also cemented a 20-year relationship with floating production unit specialist, Maersk FPSO by successfully winning a competitive tender for the provision of all of the company’s print and reprographics requirements. 

“Safety awareness is a crucial issue for all those who operate in the energy industry,” said Murray.  “While XIC will continue to work with clients to meet their day-to-day stationery and corporate literature requirements, we anticipate that oil and gas companies will increasingly require a more comprehensive suite of safety and operational materials to support their awareness-raising campaigns and daily activities.”

JCI LogoXIC joined members of the Aberdeen business community to watch Knight Property Group founder James Barrack win the 36th Grampian Industrialist of the Year title at a recent awards dinner.Around 300 local business people attended the event, which was organised by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Aberdeen and held at the Ardoe House Hotel.

 XIC is a long-standing supporter of JCI Aberdeen. Director Murray Alexander attends many of the group’s meetings and the company supports JCI Aberdeen’s larger events via print sponsorship.  Our recent involvement includes the design and print of cookery literature in connection with the group’s Evening with Lady Claire McDonald, as well as printed materials for the Grampian Industrialist of the Year awards dinner.

During a prestigious gala dinner at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, Mackinnons scooped the awards for both Private Client Team of the Year and Residential Property Team of the Year.
